Who are we looking for?
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Associate Director Financial Control to join Finance Business Solutions, Chancellery Division.


The Associate Director, Financial Control will lead and have a strong focus on QUT's compliance obligations, particularly arising from external bodies, management of investments and financial reporting requirements.

The Associate Director is a member of the Finance Business Solutions Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

The Associate Director will lead multiple teams with a focus on research and contracts accounting, general ledger and financial controls, assets, tax and treasury functions.

About the Chancellery Division


Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development.

The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.


About Finance Business Solutions


Within the Chancellery, Finance Business Solutions (FBS) is responsible for a range of business functions to facilitate the ongoing financial viability and planning of the University in realising QUT's strategic aims and objectives, while maintaining a customer centric approach when engaging with the University community, industry and government.

What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience including related experience in a senior role within a large complex organisation and holding at least one of the following qualifications (i) a certified practicing accountant conferred by CPA Australia (ii) a chartered accountant conferred by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia; or (iii) a professional national accountant conferred by the National Institute of Accountants; or qualifications from an overseas accounting body that is recognised by at least two of the organisations mentioned above.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing, coordinating and leading specialist teams in the delivery of professional and highquality financial accounting, treasury and tax functions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills, in conjunction with negotiation skills, to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior management and external parties.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to research and prepare a range of complex documents, presentations and communications.
  • High level analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to identify emerging financial accounting and compliance issues, trends and opportunities and provide proactive recommendations and advice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with proven experience in driving change in systems, processes and people using valuesbased leadership techniques.
