We are seeking experienced applicants with previous offshore or onshore wind projects and who are interested in using their skills to help build an establish the Australian offshore wind industry.

The role is located in the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources. This role focuses on the licensing of offshore renewables projects and transmission infrastructure in Commonwealth waters.


What you will need:


  • Specialist technical skills and knowledge in one or more key areas including:
  • Structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering with a focus on offshore wind or other large scale onshore renewable energy technologies.
  • Project management of offshore wind or other large scale offshore or onshore renewable energy developments including planning, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and/or decommissioning.
  • Technical standards for the design, operation and maintenance of renewable energy generation and transmission infrastructure.
  • Commercial structures and financing of offshore wind or other large scale offshore or onshore renewable energy developments.
  • Regulatory approvals associated with offshore wind or other large scale offshore or onshore renewable energy developments.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in disciplines such as project management, engineering, economics or accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and identify issues relevant across all facets of project development and delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) as well as a proven ability to lead projects, as well as work within a team, and manage/ mentor/ supervise /develop staff or team members.
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • This position requires a National Police Clearance and a Baseline Security clearance

What you will do:


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake ongoing compliance activities in relation to licences and provide advice to the Registrar and Minister in relation to any actions required.
  • Support the relevant NOPTA teams and the Registrar in the ongoing operation of the regulatory regime.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders within Government and industry on regulatory matters.
