MacKellar Group is a mining equipment and services provider and was started from the ground up to now boast more than 1000 employees across 9 sites including Head Office based on the Sunshine Coast.

We are currently experiencing an exciting time of significant growth and are looking to fill a new role of HSET Manager at our Head Office.

As a leader in the business, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the GM
  • HSET and site safety staff to ensure all business activities are aligned with company obligations and all relevant legislation and Acts
  • Provide leadership and support to PM's and site safety staff whilst promoting a safety first culture that aligns with business outcomes
  • Continuously improve the capability and knowledge of all HSET staff across the business
  • Ensure that the company's "Duty of Care" is exercised in all aspects of business activities
  • Contribute HSET information to tenders
  • Oversee the efficient and effective delivery of HST services that maximise outcomes
To be successful in this role we are looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, with experience in the mining or civil industries as a Principal Contractor an advantage
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, management or related qualification
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with management and HSET staff across multiple projects
  • Proficient in injury management, incident investigation and a clear understanding of risk management
  • Ability to develop solutions to business risks
  • Understanding of both the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Act as well as the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act
This role will be based on the Sunshine coast with regular weekly travel to site throughout regional Queensland.
