VBA has a fixed term opportunity for a highly motivated senior lawyer to join our in-house legal services leadership team, based in our Melbourne office.

This role is pivotal to ensuring the VBA delivers robust prosecution and litigation activity by:

  • Building and leading a high performing team to unlock their full potential and enhance the Legal Services brand;
  • Strategizing and appearing on behalf of the VBA and related Boards before Federal and Victorian courts of all levels, the AAT, VCAT, coronial inquests, tribunals and relevant forums;
  • Demonstrating a sound understanding of procedural fairness, administrative law, risk frameworks, environmental scanning, solutions based thinking and cogent decision making;
  • Providing advanced expertise on a range of high profile and complex prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings, litigation, cladding and administrative law matters to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Who we are looking for:


  • Admission to the legal profession in an Australian jurisdiction (that is, an Australian lawyer) and current Victorian or interstate practising certificate (unrestricted).
  • Admission to the High Court / Supreme Court roll of practitioners.
