The Payments domain in CBA brings together the process, people and technology assets supporting real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high value and international payments processing for the Bank.

The team have the monumental task of ensuring that 40% of the Australian economy are able to transact over $90 billion a day using the Bank's services in a reliable manner.

With the payments technology systems being at the heart of the Bank, almost every customer-facing channel relies on payments services in one way or another.

The Data Services Crew within the Payments Domain has stewardship over the Bank's payments data to support development of new customer propositions and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.

The team are responsible to build and lead the world-class data delivery capability across critical payments data platforms and highly visible change initiatives.


Your impact and contribution


As a Product Owner within the Payments Data Services Crew, you will work closely with the business to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering the data delivery for the Payments Domain.

This will incorporate the delivery of new data, modernisation of existing data and development of the strategic roadmap for future state data delivery, in conjunction with the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO).

You will be leading a team of data delivery experts to achieve this, while creating a psychologically safe, inclusive, accountable and high performance culture, and working collaboratively within and across Crews.

This position reports to the
Crew Lead, Payments Data Services.


Your Responsibilities

  • Define roadmap for payment data delivery, meeting our customer needs and aligning with payments initiatives and goals
  • Deliver payments data initiatives on time, to scope and within budget
  • Refine the solution for creation and use of strategic credit risk data, including building and delivering the solution
  • Work collaboratively with CDAO to ensure payments data is aligned with the Group's strategic data roadmap and architecture
  • Maintain strong consideration for operational risk including support for production incidents
  • Continuously review and enhance existing data delivery practices to ensure delivery can become more efficient
  • Provide leadership including team engagement, strategic vision, and alignment to Payments goals, across a diverse range team members located in geographies
  • Communicate project status, blockers, dependencies, issue and risks across a variety of stakeholders and cadences
  • Be accountable for endtoend delivery (including requirement, solution design, quality control, obtaining all signoff (Data Governance, UAT, Releases), production deployment and post golive support)
  • Ensure group data guardrails are followed for all data deliverables
  • Engage various key stakeholders for addressing impediments, managing conflicts and escalations
  • Lead all agile ceremonies for your squad, build a high performer team, support squad member to meet the sprint goal and prioritisation.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience working collaboratively cross functional teams, stakeholders, review boards and committees
  • Strong data systems knowledge, stakeholder management and team leadership skills
  • Demonstrated capability for constructive challenge, including process improvement and challenging the status quo
  • Past experience in development of high performing teams
  • Strong commitment to delivery and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills
  • Expertise in data best practice
  • Experience in delivery of data products in complex enterprise data warehouse
  • Prior experience in leading cross functional data delivery teams, data engineering, solution design, and / or technical business analysis
  • Agile delivery related experience is desired
