We currently have a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an Associate Director to join our Indirect Tax team.

As the Associate Director, Indirect Tax, you will support the Head of Tax (HOT) discharge his or her accountabilities in managing NAB's indirect tax risk under NAB's Tax Risk Governance Policy.

The ADT carries a delegation from the Chief Tax Officer under the Tax Team Delegation.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Adopts a customer focus across Group Tax and NAB Finance to ensure that NAB customers are at the heart of everything that Group Tax does.
  • Maintains a customerfocussed mindset and behaviour across NAB Finance and the NAB Group.
  • Applies the Conservative Regulatory and Compliance risk postures set by the NAB Principal Board in providing indirect tax advice.
  • Assists the HOT in recommending updates to NAB's Tax Risk Governance Policy and associated Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Acts as an advocate of NAB's tax policies and procedures throughout NAB, ensuring that key stakeholders within the indirect tax area of accountability have sufficient awareness of the relevant policies and risk management processes.
  • Executes the annual strategy for the indirect tax function in line with the wider Group Tax annual strategy.
  • Assists the HOT as the tax risk approval authority for new initiatives/ transactions for the Performance Units within the indirect tax area of accountability under the HOT Delegation.
  • Maintains a constructive relationship with the ATO.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • ability to transform complex financial and non-financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively, great communication skills and building positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing complex tax issues and working on large tax projects.
  • Proven experience in engaging with the ATO and other revenue authorities on tax and tax risk issues.
  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis and effectively translate technical tax elements to business stakeholders.
  • Current specialist indirect tax experience working in the financial services tax team of a chartered accounting firm or a senior corporate group tax role with a financial services background.
  • Tertiary qualification in law and/or finance with Masters of Tax or CA preferred.
