As an Ambulatory Equine Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing veterinary services to horses in the Brisbane area and surrounding regions.
This role involves performing routine examinations, vaccinations, dental procedures, lameness evaluations, and emergency care in both clinic and field settings.
You will work closely with horse owners, trainers, and other equine professionals to develop customized treatment plans and promote the health and welfare of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting onsite examinations, diagnostics, and treatments for equine patients
- Providing preventive care, including vaccinations, deworming, and dental procedures
- Evaluating lameness and performance issues, and implementing appropriate treatment plans
- Performing emergency medical procedures and providing afterhours care as needed
- Collaborating with clients to educate them on horse health and management practices
- Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation
- Participating in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current on advances in equine medicine and surgery
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Experience working with horses in an ambulatory or field setting preferred
- Strong diagnostic and problemsolving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for emergency calls
