This position will support the Victorian Government's commitment to the energy transition.

Led by the Senior Program Manager, the Clean Energy Transformation team manages a suite of programs including the Renewable Hydrogen Commercialisation Pathways Fund, the Hume Hydrogen Highway Initiative and Strategic Opportunities.

The team supports the development and implementation of several projects that address key sector challenges with the potential to boost renewable energy in Victoria; and manages projects creating long-term sustainable jobs, increasing the uptake of renewable energy generation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and driving innovation in new energy technologies.

The Project Officer will undertake a range of project management and governance support activities for renewable hydrogen grant projects.

Critical to success, the Project Officer has proven project/program delivery experience and takes the lead to identify and assess options to solve problems; manage projects on time and within budget; and provide outstanding excellence in program delivery.

The position requires a motivated individual with strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and flexibly as a key team member.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in the energy sector, program management and/or implementation.
  • An understanding of government, departmental and Ministerial functions and processes is desirable.
  • An understanding of policies and issues, both local and international, relating to energy policy would be desirable, but not mandatory.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
