The Role
The Mechanical Power Station Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a power plant facility, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all equipment and systems.
The Operator will monitor and control the power generation process, respond to emergencies, and conduct routine maintenance and repair activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and control, generators, and related systems, to generate electricity and maintain a stable power supply
- Monitor and analyse power plant performance, identify and diagnose malfunctions or problems.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and system failures, including initiating emergency shutdown procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs, including inspecting and testing equipment, replacing or repairing components, and performing preventive maintenance tasks
- Perform operational and safety checks on equipment and systems, including ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements
- Maintain accurate records and reports of operational activities and maintenance tasks,
- Participate in training and development activities related to power plant operation and maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures
- Diesel/Mechanical Trade certification
- 35 years of experience in power plant operations or related field preferred
- Operational knowledge of power plant equipment, systems and generators,
- Knowledge of power plant safety protocols compliance and procedures
- Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and/or operational issues.
