The Opportunity


The UNSW Faculty of Engineering has an opportunity working in the NSW Decarbonisation Hub for a Hub Engagement & Communications Officer.

As the Hub Engagement & Communications Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engagement and communications strategies to promote the purpose and outcomes of the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub and its programmes, including content development, coordination of events and roadshows, social media and web management, and stakeholder engagement.

This is a highly collaborative role where you will work closely with Hub partners, the Hub Manager, Business Managers and Administrators to drive engagement for the Hub.

In this role, you will also coordinate engagement and communication across the Hub and its Networks.


This role reports to the Scientia Professor Rose Amal, with a dotted line to Professor Deo Prasad and has no direct reports.


  • Salary, Level 7: $100,331 to $ 108,588 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed term contract 12 months with possible extension

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent experience, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven track record in the delivery of marketing strategies that achieve measurable outcomes in support of organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into straight forward messages for communication to a diverse group of stakeholders in support of strategic goals.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, and exercise creativity and enthusiasm in the development of new initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of communication platforms including traditional, digital, and social channels. Knowledge of CRM platforms considered an advantage.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects of varying importance, scale and stakeholder involvement and meet required deadlines.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in influencing and negotiating to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong skills in science communication and interest in corporate and government relationship is highly desirable.
  • Adaptive and flexible team player who can work work autonomously and dynamically.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
