The role

As part of our growth strategy, we are currently looking for an experienced project-based Design Manager to join the Barpa team.

This position offers flexibility and can be located in our offices in NT, WA, or VIC as a site based role.

The role of Design Manager is pivotal to the successful delivery of high-quality projects.


As a valued member of our team, you will be tasked with effectively managing the design process through a combination of commercial acumen, contractual expertise, meticulous time management, and exceptional technical skills.

Ensuring compliance with current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, you will strive to exceed project objectives while aligning with Barpa's strategic direction.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage and oversee all design activities across multiple construction projects
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely and costeffective project delivery
  • Review project specifications and contracts to identify design requirements and constraints
  • Develop and maintain project design schedules and budgets
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contracts, and applicable regulations
  • Monitor project progress and update senior management on key milestones and potential issues
  • Identify and resolve designrelated issues and escalate issues to senior management as needed
  • Ensure that project design records and documents are accurate and uptodate
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on project design status, including potential risks and opportunities
  • Manage the design process, including design development, design review, and design approval

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in design management in the construction industry
  • Experience working on largescale construction project from $1m $50m upwards
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of construction project management tools and software
  • Understanding of construction contracts and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards
