Our Administration Team have several vacancies for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work alongside our team in supporting the hospital's Admissions and Reception functions.


About us


Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital.

We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit.

A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region.

Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.


Our Administration team are the face of our hospital - managing all incoming patients and visitors to the hospital; assisting them with bookings, health fund estimations, admissions & enquiries.


This role will work across a variety of both front and back of house administration tasks on a Monday to Sunday roster across a variety of shifts.


You will work collaboratively with the rest of the team, and our ward areas to ensure we are providing the best possible experience to our patients and visitors.


As an Administration Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a busy reception desk
  • Answer and redirect calls
  • Prepare admission paperwork
  • Perform Health Fund Checks as required
  • Manage the collection of excesses/co payments
  • Coordinate with staff from other departments
  • Complete other clerical tasks such as data entry

Essential Criteria:


  • Authority to Work in Australia
  • Working with Children check
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Works well independently and within a team
  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts early/late shifts & weekend work
  • Prior hospital administration system experience is highly desirable
