  • About the role
    This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm) and will be based at the Nowra Administration Building . The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position. Duties
    Reporting directly to the Director – City Futures, the focus of this position is to:
  • Identify strategic opportunities for future growth, create pathways to make plans come to life, and deliver great outcomes for the future of the Shoalhaven.
  • Lead the preparation, implementation, and management of positioning Council's property assets.
  • Prepare, implement, and manage tasks associated with positioning Council's property assets (current & future) to achieve or realise short-term (activation) and strategic long-term (end outcomes) goals that support Council's aspirations for the improvement of key centres, development of key precincts or sites and ongoing service delivery.
  • Skills & Experience
    Council is looking for a property wizard. To be successful in this role you will need to have experience in managing a strategic property portfolio, have a passion and understanding of the important role and opportunity local government plays in land dealings and development, and have worked with government before to deliver game changing outcomes. We will need you to not only see the opportunity for what could be, but to understand the steps needed to make it happen It would be very helpful if you have a working knowledge of public private partnerships and the legislative framework Councils work under to deliver great future outcomes. This is a reasonably new role for Shoalhaven Council so there is an opportunity to really make it your own. The first job on the list is to look at all the current property assets Council own, find some regional game changing opportunities, then make them happen This is a great role for the right candidate to work along side the Director of City Futures to drive positive change in our beautiful region. In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in:
  • Business and/or managementProperty portfolio managementand/or relevant experience
  • Experience in managing a diversified portfolio of properties – commercial, industrial, residential & other
  • Knowledge of relevant provisions of the Local Government Act, Roads Act & the Crown Land Management Act.
  • Demonstrated financial management & budgetary experience
  • Demonstrated skills & experience in project and contract management
  • Knowledge and skills in contemporary management practices, staff management, performance management, staff development, change management and quality management systems
  • Class C Driver's Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (Visa)
