About the Role
Reporting to the Production Coordinator and Depot Manager, the purpose of this position is to perform a range of activities including; examination, servicing, maintenance and repair on suburban train fleet vehicles to ensure as far practicable the safe, reliable and on time running of the train fleet.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Undertake safety procedures
- Perform Examination tasks
- Check and repair Fleet Air and Break systems
- Perform train modifications as required
- Check and service coupler and electrical equipment
- Service Fleet Rotating machines
- Perform duties in accordance with Metro's Quality System
- Participate in multiskilled training and activities for which you are deemed competent
- Ensure tasks are performed to approved standards and instructions
- Attend to fatalities, derailments, collisions, pantograph entanglements and other mishaps involving trains
- Record and report work performed
- This position is based at our Newport Maintenance Depot
To be a successful applicant for this position, your profile must adhere to the following requirements:
Education and Certification
- Relevant trade qualification (Dual Mechanical/ Electrical trade preferred)
- A valid Australian Drivers Licence
- Certified in Track Safety Awareness (Level 1)
- TTSA
- Train Track Safety Awareness (Level 3)
- Rail Safety Competency and Medical Assessment (Category 3)
- Qualified First Aid Level 2
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Previous experience within a maintenance environment
- Demonstrated expertise within either a rail/ automotive and/or avionics environment
- Flexibility to varying shift which includes the weekend and public holidays as required
