The role


The Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator role will undertake, support, and ensure the delivery of evidence based mental health nursing care that meets professional, organisational, legal, and ethical standards in order to ensure timely prisoner access to primary mental healthcare and optimise outcomes for young people.

The role is a great leadership opportunity, and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator may assume the responsibilities and authority of the Health Services Manager when required.


Essential experience and attributes include the following selection criteria:

  • Registered General Nurse bachelor level qualification with a post graduate Mental Health qualification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to clinically lead a team to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Comprehensive previous experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • A minimum of at least two years postgraduate psychiatric nursing experience
  • Recent nursing experience in a mental healthcare setting
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Proven experience dealing with complaints and incident management.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a clear understanding of the managerial responsibilities of the role.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills
