Lead and oversee Wyndham's Arts, Culture and Events Program

  • Permanent fulltime, Werribee based
  • Total remuneration package from $142,668 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience

A bit about the role


Coupling artistic flare with your strong background in strategic planning and development, you will lead and oversee the growth of a quality, creative, community responsive and contemporary Arts, Culture and Events program.


The unit sits within the Arts, Events and Cultural Venues department and currently includes leadership across Wyndham Art Gallery, Public Art and Collections, Creative Industry Programs and delivery of public program and projects.

It further overseas the delivery of Wyndham's major event program.


With a focus to drive outcomes and ensure Wyndham is known for its passion and ability to provide diverse arts and cultural activities on a local, state, and national level, ensuring our activities reflect the growing and changing needs of our community.


You will form and strengthen new artistic partnerships and community development in Wyndham City while working in close collaboration with the Cultural Venues team to deliver strategic outcomes for the Wyndham community.


What you'll deliver

  • Provide artistic leadership and oversee the strategic development and growth of the Arts, Culture and Events program for Wyndham
  • Develop and implement policies, plans, programs and activities which build, deliver and promote arts, culture and events in Wyndham
  • Provide leadership and support to the Arts, Culture and Events teams
  • Facilitate collaboration across Council to strengthen the organisation's strategic approach to delivering arts, culture and events and to support the delivery of the cultural venues agenda
  • Actively seek out opportunities for joint programming and creative development collaborations and partnerships with artists, community organisations' and the broader creative industry

What you'll bring

  • Post graduate qualification in Arts or Cultural Development, or lesser formal qualification with extensive relevant experience in arts and cultural development and events management
  • Diverse and relevant experience in arts and cultural development practices
  • Experience with the management of largescale, highprofile events
  • Welldeveloped conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to provide strategic advice in the area of arts, culture and events
  • Experience in leadership in the arts, culture and events sectors including demonstrated ability to build visionary and innovative initiatives, programs and events
  • Strong team development skills, including experience with change management
  • Exceptional partnership development skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
