This role is integral to the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the OIR health, safety and wellbeing management system and ensuring that our people are safe and supported.


In this role you will:


  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team over which you have responsibility. This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations under relevant OIR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and review functionality of the OIR HSW Management System, including development of documentation aligned to ISO45001 and 45003 management systems
  • Lead the strategic development, implementation and delivery of the OIR's Health Safety and Wellbeing strategies, systems, policies and procedures that drives transformational change, mitigates risk and building confidence, capability and capacity for the OIR workforce.
  • Manage contemporary multidisciplinary consultancy services and provide strategic, tactical and operational advice encompassing safe work practices, injury prevention, rehabilitation, complex case management and early intervention programs
  • Implement and manage contemporary workplace health and safety governance arrangements and a performance framework that provides strategic analysis and reporting on injuries, WorkCover, relevant people data, accreditation and audit processes that sets a benchmark for excellence in safety.
  • Provide high level analysis and specialist advice to senior executives and people leaders to inform best practice approaches for managing employee health conditions, complex claims, early intervention, rehabilitation practices and goalfocused return to work programs.
  • Lead the assessment of critical HSW risks for OIR to identify effective and sustainable controls to all associated hazards, including the review and monitoring of these controls
  • Be suitably qualified to be appointed as OIR's Workplace Health and Safety Officer and undertake operational health and safety activities to proactively manage workplace health and safety on behalf of the OIR as the PCBU.
  • Work collaboratively with Health and Safety Representatives and People leaders to strengthen their knowledge and skills and aligning OIR's priorities including cultural safety of all staff.
