    Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Manager to join our Leadership Team for the Living Services business line nationally. This role can be based in either Queensland (Brisbane) or WA (Perth).

About the role
Promote a positive and generative approach to the health, safety, environment and quality functions within the business.

Partnering with contracts / projects within your designated function to supply advice and ongoing support around compliance and operational excellence with the SHEQ discipline including food safety matters.

The role will also provide technical capability to drive the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System to meet legal, contractual, and other business requirements.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the implementation of SHEQ Management Plans across the business line including business improvements plans aligned with the overall SHEQ strategy
  • Overseeing a significant portfolio with multiple contracts and risk profiles
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards and that all activities on projects are undertaken in a safe manner and within applicable suitable frameworks and documentation
  • Undertake or lead investigations in relation to safety related incidents
  • Implementing processes to ensure communications and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of "safety and health above all else"
  • Oversee employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning
  • Ensure Ventia's Critical Risk Protocols are embedded in projects through leaders and risk assessments and registers are developed and maintained
  • Develop and review document version control across the business line
  • Utilise VenCentral to enable informed decisions to be made in relation to asset disposal, renewal, and planned maintenance programs
  • Monitor contracts statistical data and report to senior leadership weekly, monthly or at request
  • Support the review process of procedures with designated sites / work groups and deliver safety related training when required including toolbox talks, prestart meetings, and campaigns
  • Supporting internal and external audit schedules and reviews
  • Provide advice and assistance to Site Managers to monitor the wellbeing of site personnel and promote the Health Bodies and Healthy Minds programs

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar / managerial position with the ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance and minimise risks while driving continuous improvement
  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety
  • Formal training in incident investigation (ICAM)
  • Management systems and Lead Auditor Qualifications
  • Cert IV in Food Science or equivalent food safety knowledge
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (optional)
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of contractual KPI's, commitment to HS&E through behaviours, visible and accountable leadership, and participation in monitoring of established working practices
  • Sound experience in conflict resolution, identifying problems and resolving issues
  • Possess strong leadership, personal drive, and motivation to achieve excellence in all that you do
