Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Communications Officer to join Marketing and Communication, Chancellery Division.


The Communications Officer is responsible for the effective delivery and coordination of activities relating to targeted communications plans for communicating with students, staff and other stakeholders as part of the QUT community.

The position will play a key role in supporting key services to effectively promote their offerings to students.

The Communications Officer will collaborate with stakeholders across the University to implement best practice communication approaches that support the student experience, while simultaneously working to develop productive relationships with key stakeholders across the university.

About the area
Marketing and Communication sits within the Chancellery Division and is responsible for:

  • Building and protecting QUT's brand awareness and reputation;
  • Engaging and recruiting future students;
  • Ensuring communications from QUT are effective and of high professional standard.


As well as professional services provided to the university community, the Department is responsible for a variety of corporate communication functions and oversees relevant policies, protocols and governance arrangements.


What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a degree in marketing/communication or related area in conjunction with relevant experience.
  • A proven track record of executing communication plans in a complex organisation in alignment with organisational goals and strategies
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing improved and innovative communications approaches and business processes that support organisational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills to work within tight deadlines, balance competing priorities and work harmoniously in a small, busy office.
  • Highly effective written communication skills with demonstrated ability to create content across multiple channels and formats.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy skills including proven understanding and experience working with web, social media, interactive design and/or other digital communication channels.
