The Role

Would you like a role that supports Defence in managing and transforming one of the largest ICT networks in Australia? Do you have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and a desire to achieve high quality governance outcomes? If so, this could be the job for you.

The APS 6 Governance and Audit Officer role is both a coordination and administrative position.

The incumbent would be working in the Governance and Assurance team to provide high-quality support largely related to ongoing Defence Audit Branch audits and ANAO Performance and Financial Statements audits.

The role includes coordinating, tasking, monitoring and reporting on incoming correspondence and taskings from multiple internal and external stakeholders.

You will enjoy a role in a small, diverse team that provides variety, the opportunity to support a diverse range of stakeholders and to positively influence and assist with the continual improvement of our provision of high-quality governance advice and support.


About our Team

ICT Service Delivery and Reform Division is at the heart of CIOG, providing high quality advice and corporate services to the Group and wider Defence.

The Directorate of Governance and Assurance focuses on governance activities that underpin CIOG efficiency, effectiveness and control as a discrete arm of Defence business.


We are a small, dedicated team providing high quality and proactive corporate governance services relating to Defence Audit Branch and ANAO audits, risk analysis, assurance and compliance activities that assist and support effective decision-making by the senior leadership.

We undertake regular, ongoing corporate reporting to support various Defence committees and senior leaders, and rely on each other's knowledge, strengths and support to help achieve successful strategic outcomes for both CIOG and Defence.


We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual to join our team and help contribute to our evolving governance function.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Highlevel interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within the team and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to work independently and plan, coordinate and monitor simultaneous work tasks to ensure they are completed on time.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to prepare corporate documentation on both routine and complex matters.
  • Welldeveloped verbal communication skills in order to communicate clearly and succinctly on complex information.
  • A willingness to share their knowledge and experience and bring fresh ideas for improvement to the position.
