Kalpaxis Legal is a small, friendly and supportive collaborative family law firm located in the Hills District. At Kalpaxis Legal we offer a unique and bespoke approach to finding solutions for families.
We practice predominantly in the area of Family Law with a collaborative practice ethos, together with Wills & Estates and the niche area of surrogacy law under our sister brand Simply Surrogacy.
Our principal, Cassandra Kalpaxis, is a collaborative family lawyer, mediator, award-winning author and divorce coach.Cassandra is also co-director of Dispute Resolution Centre Australia working with some of the country's leading barristers, ex-Judges, mediators and other practitioners.
The role
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and switched-on individual who will play a key role in our day-to-day operations by helping the team achieve its goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing paralegal assistance to our Associate Family Lawyers, and other team members as required;
- Identifying, collating, and indexing of large volumes of financial disclosure materials;
- Utilising other thirdparty software programs such as Infotrack and Comcourts;
- Drafting, formatting, proofreading, amending correspondence and documents;
- Drafting court and other legal documents;
- Preparing briefs to counsel;
- Electronic court document filing and serving documents to other parties;
- Calendar management including arranging of conferences with clients, Counsel, other professionals as required;
- Providing daytoday general and adhoc administrative duties;
- Contribution to marketing which may include attending events, networking, blog posts for website, social media content and articles for thirdparty publications;
- Timesheet entry for all billable tasks.
- Have a minimum 3 years' experience as a paralegal/legal secretary in family law
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with ownership over your work
- Excellent time management and organisational skills ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and meet conflicting deadlines
- Experience typing and formatting of legal correspondence and documents
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills particularly in Word and Outlook
- Proficient in the use of practice management software with an ability to learn quickly
- Ability to draft minor correspondence and documents
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and have a flexible and adaptable approach
- Excellent client service/communication skills
- Initiative in improving the firm's processes and systems
- Proactive approach to work and excellent work ethic
- Be punctual, reliable, and dedicated to producing high quality work
- Professionalism when handling confidential information
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
