Salary Range:
$122,949 - $135,013 + Attractive Superannuation


Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling (formerly VVCS) is Australia's leading provider of high quality mental health assessment and clinical counselling services for Australian veterans and their families.

Open Arms are focused on meeting client needs through a combination of proven clinical practices and new and emerging evidence-based approaches.

The ACT/Southern New South Wales region provides Open Arms Services to eligible clients living within The ACT and Southern NSW, with offices located in Canberra (Woden), as well as regional satellite offices located in Gungahlin ACT as well as within Queanbeyan and Wagga Wagga in NSW.


Assistant Directors leverage specialist knowledge and experience gained from a relevant clinical background to lead multidisciplinary teams in the provision of services to Veterans and their families.


Duties

  • Oversee the implementation of Open Arms business initiatives, from development through successful execution, under the guidance of the Director.
  • Assist and communicate with regional leadership in prioritisation, decisionmaking, service delivery, and initiative implementation.
  • Review, design and execute improvement to service delivery; find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them.
  • Improve current processes and optimise organisational procedures for efficiency and productivity.
  • Serve as a liaison with staff, the regional leadership team and senior Open Arms leadership regarding organisational culture, employee wellbeing, policy implementation, and planning.
  • Develop and build on relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations. Help define new operational strategies by working with the Director and senior leadership on special projects.
  • Act as a representative of the Director as required.

Eligibility

  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a preengagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Mandatory Requirements

One of the following:

  • Qualifications as an AHPRA registered Psychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration,

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.


A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
