Position Information:

Lisarow High School is a comprehensive 7-12 school with an enrolment of 760 students. Approximately 4% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school also has a Support Unit catering for 2 Multi-Categorical classes and 1 Emotional Disorder class. Lisarow High School is on Darkinjung land and sits on picturesque grounds in close proximity to the Pacific Highway.

  • Lisarow, Ourimbah, Narara, Valley View and Niagara Park Public Schools. Combined, these schools work together as the Valley Schools Learning Community. The school works in close partnership with its community, supported by an active Parents and Citizens Association and Cooinda Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The school offers targeted intake classes including Enrichment, Technology Opportunity, Creative and Performing Arts Academy, Sports Academy and Dance Academy and students are offered a broad curriculum choice in Stages 5 & 6.The school offers a wellrounded wellbeing program for students, led by a committed Learning Support Team. The school has a depth of experienced teachers with 5% of teachers early in their career. The school achieves strong sporting results in a variety of fields and models a balance between extracurricular and curricular activities, supporting the development of well round students. The school has a proud history of fostering a positive learning environment towards academic and sporting success. Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to strengthen a team culture, to lead and manage a faculty with diverse experience and build positive relationships
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the HSIE faculty in meeting the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all students by developing and implementing high quality teaching and assessment programs to build student engagement and support high expectations
  • Highly developed ability to work successfully and productively with the school executive team to analyse data and to lead, implement and support whole school priorities and initiatives

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
