The roleThis position will deliver statewide specialist emergency medicine clinician support services, within the Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) Emergency Telehealth portfolio, to rural and remote healthcare facilities ensuring equity of access to an emergency physician for all rural Hospital and Health Service (HHS) Emergency Departments


Key responsibilities include:
- participate in an integrated multidisciplinary clinical service model that provides 24/7 clinical support services, to assist local clinicians in the safe management of acute patient presentations to rural and remote hospitals and Emergency Departments, using videoconferencing platforms and other IT platforms.
- provide emergency telehealth clinical services, consistent with national and international best practice, which aim to improve the quality of care and support to patients and clinicians in regional, rural and remote areas.
- assist in the delivery of RSQ specific education and information initiatives and programmes to HHS's, relevant clinical networks and other health groups.


The successful personYou will have:


  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practice of emergency medicine with specific exposure to, and understanding of, the unique working conditions in regional, rural and remote settings.
  • Previous experience in rural and remote emergency telehealth clinician support highly desirable.
  • Experience in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine and/or RSQ Medical Coordination would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal and external clinicians, partners, stakeholders and work groups.


About usThe QAS Division operates as a statewide service within Department of Health and is accountable for the delivery of pre-hospital ambulance response services, emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital patient care and transport services, inter-facility ambulance transport, aeromedical retrieval services, emergency telehealth clinical support models, confidential health assessment and information services, casualty room services and planning and coordination of multi-casualty incidents and disasters to the Queensland community.
