The Role:

Working as part of the Senior Management Team, we are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to ensure the contract operates in accordance with core legislation, pivotal to operating a compliant business.

This role is a critical member of the Senior Management Team, providing advice and guidance to the Contract Director & other SMT members.

This position will see you in a full-time position based at Cavan within the SAPMICM contract (South Australian Prisoner Movement and In-Court management Contract).


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Support the Senior Management Team, deputising for the Contract Director, delivering the courts operational solution across the SAPMICM contract
  • Deliver oversight and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Training & Development of staff and drive resilience within the structure of the senior and middle management team;
  • Promote community engagement across the SAPMICM contract with respective bodies and organisations throughout South Australia;
  • Remain well informed regarding best practice trends in service provision and innovative support practices that align with the key principles of Correctional Services;
  • Be the focal point for liaison with the department of Correctional Services, CAA, DHS and South Australian Police.
  • Assess client needs in complex situations, investigate the range of options available to clients and determine and deliver the most appropriate response within guidelines;
  • Where required prepare and analyse monthly, yearly and essential contract management reports;

Skills and Experience:


  • Relevant qualifications in a discipline in relation to business services functions, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation;
  • Proven experience operating in a commercial and strategic role;
  • Demonstrated management experience in an operational environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative management style and the ability to forge highly productive internal and external working relationships;
  • Personable and professional, with a strong capability to remain objective, unbiased and balanced in challenging environments;
  • Exceptional numerical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret and advise nonfinance personnel to achieve performance within budget;
