About the Role
Consultants in Paediatric Emergency Medicine coordinate and provide leadership for clinical shifts in the Children's Emergency at Sunshine Hospital.

The position is dynamic and will respond to the needs of the department

There are several foci:

Clinical work and shift leadership
Education and training of staff to optimize care
Development of professional interests in alignment of the strategic aims of the department

Duties
The key responsibilities will be clinical and will involve the following areas:

Clinical work in the Children's Emergency
Supervision and clinical education of JMS including trainees of the RACP and ACEM undertaking paediatric emergency medicine terms
Communication with nursing shift leaders and resuscitation teams
Communication with inpatient teams to facilitate care and transfer in a timely fashion
Communication with retrieval services and critical care teams for those children requiring transfer
Contributing to education, wellbeing and performance of the department

Skills & Experience OR Essential Criteria

Essential**- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

FRACP and/or FACEM
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Demonstrated qualities of enthusiasm, initiative, and perseverance

Desirable

Completed or working to complete PEM endorsement under the Joint Training Committee of the RACP and ACEM.
APLS instructor
