Description

The Lecturer, Biomedical Science, in the Department of Health Sciences and Biostatistics will provide leadership in research, teaching and other appropriate professional activities.

The incumbent will be involved in the direction of research and educational programs to enhance the quality and delivery of biomedical science at Swinburne.

This will involve active collaboration with the Course Director, Department Chair, and academic colleagues across the School of Health Sciences.


Biomedical Science is the largest major in the Bachelor of Health Science and is an expanding program within the school.

There are excellent research facilities within the university, including MedTech Vic and the Iverson Institute. As such, the Lecturer will be part of a larger team, enabling development of their research profile and skills.

This position will be involved in the administration and ongoing curriculum development of units offered within biomedical science major, including the use of blended models of unit delivery.

The incumbent will be expected to carry out appropriate activities that will maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional expertise, whilst functioning as a member of both discipline-based and interdisciplinary teams to help the school to achieve its objectives.


The incumbent will be committed to, and enthusiastic about growing the biomedical science profile of Swinburne University, with a passion to innovate and embrace diversity to enrich the opportunities of students in the delivery of undergraduate units.

This role is expected to carry out educational and curriculum development of both online and on campus learning materials, combined with appropriate assessments in biomedical science.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching including a record of teaching in biomedical science.
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute to research teams and partnerships, as well as research supervision to achieve high impact research outcomes.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to innovative education.
  • Demonstrated experience with online learning and teaching methods, including creation or use of leading edge/best practice delivery methods such as flexible delivery formats.
  • A commitment to research in the university context.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral qualification in an area of biomedical science.
