We're looking for a superstar Lead Product Designer to work in our Design System team to deliver and lead the development and maintenance of our Optus Design System

As a Lead Product Designer, you're an expert in your craft with a drive to ensure the best customer experience is delivered to our customers.

You'll provide design leadership within your team and the broader Optus organisation.

You will also be a role model of Optus leadership fundamentals and demonstrate the attributes of a servant leader valuing diverse opinions, cultivating trust and encouraging contribution of new ideas.

You will be managing between 1 and 5 Product Designers including their recruitment, personal development and the performance cycle. Proactively mentoring and putting in place practices that encourage mastery of domain skills.

Key responsibilities:

Influence key stakeholder across the organisation on the importance of the design system and to promote a united vision for the design system
Identify and leverage opportunities for Practice, Chapter and Tribe members to adopt and contribute to the Design System. Foster discussions with others using the system
Collaborate with Product Designers in different work streams to support them in consuming and contributing to the Design System
Maintain the design system, create, and update documentation, and library components in Figma
Conduit to bridge gaps between UX/UI & development and broader stakeholder groups
Designing new and optimising customer journeys and interfaces, from lowdef to highdef artefacts including sketching, wireframing, interactive prototyping

About you:

7+ years in Product Design or UX/UI role.
Demonstrated success in establishing design systems, component libraries, and reusable systems for multiple products within an organization.
Experience in unifying and maintaining a UI and UX design across multiple teams with differing goals and priorities—including developing, maintaining, documenting, and gaining adoption of pattern libraries.
Proven experience designing and launching for both desktop and mobile environments
Experience in project leadership and team mentoring
