This position will provide management and leadership to the Training function in the MRQ.

You will manage and oversee the development, coordination, and evaluation of training and supporting functions across the state, assisting with strategies, planning and implementation to align with training, operational and program priorities.

You will work collaboratively across MRQ, with external parties (such as ASQA, AMSA, and QPS RTO), and with volunteers to deliver standardised training into operational areas.

You will perform training needs analysis and provide strategic advice across MRQ to facilitate the successful delivery of training and support the operational capability of a new integrated marine rescue service.


The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Assess and monitor the effectiveness of all capability learning and development initiatives and provide high quality education and training advice and leadership to strengthen capability education and training programs with a capability of managing programs for a large volunteer community.
  • Establish, build and maintain effective communication and collaboration with key stakeholders including, Multicultural / First Nations peoples and communities, representatives of government departments, and external agencies in order to lead and drive education and training activities directly relevant to service delivery; as well as to meet community needs and expectations.
  • Provide leadership, management, and coordination of multiple teams that are responsible for education and training projects through the design, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of education and training courses and programs.
  • Facilitate professional consultation and negotiation across QPS business areas to conduct needs analysis and assess training requirements and provide professional strategic advice and direction in relation to education and training strategies and approaches for the design and delivery of training.
  • Prepare and deliver highlevel advice, reports, submissions, briefing materials and correspondence for senior management.
  • Fostering a stimulating, equitable, ethical and safe working environment for staff which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.

Role Requirements:

Mandatory**:

  • Possession of Open 'C' Class Queensland Drivers Licence.

Qualifications:


  • Cert II Coxswain NC (Grade 1) equivalent or higher.
  • TAE40122 Cert IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Short or Long range operator certificate of proficiency (SROCP or LROCP) or equivalent.

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience:


  • Experience in Maritime Search and Rescue Organisations' (national/international), or be willing to acquire formal search and rescue qualifications within six months of commencement.
  • Previous experience with managing education and training projects and the design, development and delivery of adult education and training courses and programs.

Other:


  • Knowledge and/or qualifications in Disaster Management.
  • Ability to travel intrastate in alignment with training and service requirements.
