***: Reporting to the Manager, Change, the Principal Advisor, Change leads key change projects on a large scale across the Department of Health (DH). Focusing on the people side of change, this role will lead the change management activities that help drive the successful delivery of priority design projects that improve the way the department operates.


The Principal Adviser, Change will act as a strategic adviser and coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfil the role of change sponsor.

The role will directly drive an uplift in change capability through supporting managers and teams to successfully design, plan and deliver a breadth of change related projects.


In addition, they will support the design and implementation of a change management service model and focus on critical projects such as redesign of operating models, modernisation of systems and processes and priorities emerging from the People and Culture branch.


Are you

  • A change specialist who can facilitate positive workplace change and is experienced in building change management capability across complex organisations?
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and experience working in a fastpaced and demanding environment with a capacity to prioritise, multitask, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.

Accountabilities

  • Manage and oversee the full life cycle of change projects to meet departmental objectives including:
(a) identify and manage people risks and issues related to change.

(b) drive adoption and manage resistance to ensure business benefits.

(c) Monitor, evaluate and measure the success of change projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and authoritative advice to influence internal and external stakeholders and key sponsors; prepare and present change strategies and plans and associated documentation and management reporting on complex matters.
  • Proactively build, collaborate, and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach. Stays calm and optimistic, even when things don't go as planned.
  • Uses chains of indirect influence to achieve outcomes (eg 'Gets A to show B so B will tell C)
  • Undertake analytical design testing and implementation planning for change initiatives that impact upon the revised operating model and structure.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
