Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and process briefing notes, executive correspondence and ministerial requests in line with the department's approval protocols and timeframe targets. Consult, negotiate and develop effective relationships across Public Works and the department to support Public Works in addressing issues and achieving its business outcomes, especially in the areas related to Executive Services and the Ministerial Liaison Officers. Coordinate the reporting of sensitive and confidential information to and from the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Public Works. Provide analysis and independent advice to the Public Works Senior Leadership Team on policies and issues which impact on organisational and operational responsibilities across all areas of Public Works. Undertake special projects to research, analyse and report on organisational and business performance issues as required. Establish and maintain productive working relationships within the division, across the department and across Queensland government.

Technical/operational expertise:

  • Demonstrate experience in managing workflow, particularly using the MINCOR electronic workflow system
  • Write and verbally communicate in a clear and concise manner and how you demonstrate a friendly and engaging interpersonal style
  • Focus on performance by setting priorities to meet deadlines and report progress and any potential delays or issues which may impact on others
  • Selfdirected and work flexibly without supervision i.e., you effectively manage new and unexpected events, and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues
  • Manage internal and external relationships by working collaboratively with others and build networks with your peers
  • Rigorously research and analyse information relevant to tasks and show judgement in decision making
  • Consider wider organisational objectives when making decisions and going about your work
