About the role


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven and proactive Thrift Shop Assistant to assist the Thrift Shop Manager to lead and develop the store to maximize profits and strengthen links between Community Support Services, the wider community and Corps.

You will be reporting to the Thrift Shop Manager.

You will successfully

  • Deliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs, and actively seeking opportunities to connect customers to TSA mission
  • Ensure that the shop operates efficiently and effectively in the absence of the manager
  • Supervise volunteers in the absence of the Manager
  • Monitor shop for security purposes
  • Open shop on time and close the shop at the end of trading
  • Assist with the store financial processes including completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking
  • Greet all customers in a warm and inviting manner
This is a part time position, 5 hours per week based in 100 Bromfield St, Colac, VIC. Roster per week is 9am-2pm Saturdays. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with General Retail Industry Award Level 3.

What you have

  • Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (desirable)
  • Experience working with volunteers (desirable)
  • Retail experience with demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to ensure customers' needs are met with dignity and respect
  • Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
