The diverse and talented staff in the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) play a central role in achieving ECU's vision, and in designing and implementing future-oriented teaching and learning strategies.

With its base at the Joondalup Campus, the CLT delivers a comprehensive suite of services and programmes on campus and online that promote high quality learning and teaching outcomes for students and academic staff.


The CLT's Teaching Quality team supports the development of excellence in teaching at ECU by working collaboratively with individuals, course teaching teams, and whole Schools.


THE ROLE

The CLT is seeking a highly experienced academic practitioner with national standing in the field of teaching and learning and student success and a commitment to excellence and equity in higher education to lead the Teaching Quality team.


The Manager, Teaching Quality is responsible for the leadership and management of the Teaching Quality team to ensure the design, development, facilitation and ongoing quality assurance and quality enhancement of academic development opportunities for all learning and teaching staff at ECU.

This includes the fully micro-credentialled Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice and the Professional Certificate in Academic Practice (both accredited by Advance HE); role-based professional development courses; an ECU-wide learning and teaching conference; and programs that build capability in SoTL, university and national awards; learning and teaching grants, etc.


The Manager, Teaching Quality is also responsible for leading the team to provide evidence-informed learning and curriculum design effectively and efficiently across all disciplines; taking a whole-of-institution approach to embed key strategic initiatives across all courses in the university.

The Manager works in collaboration with learning and teaching leaders from schools and central services to lead technology enhanced learning and teaching transformation at scale.


As the Manager, Teaching Quality, key responsibilities will include monitoring and benchmarking best practice in teaching, learning, and student experience across learning modes, engaging externally to maintain and enhance ECU's reputation for teaching quality, and building strategic networks and collaborative relationships while fostering a culture of capability building and mentoring.

You will lead a cohesive, collegial, and innovative team, working with the learning and teaching leaders within the Centre for Learning and Teaching as well as across the broader University.

Capabilities

A doctoral qualification in a relevant field and a Senior or Principal Fellowship with Advance HE;
National standing in the field of learning and teaching and student success;
Comprehensive leadership capabilities, including experience in leading large diverse, collaborative teams;
Sound knowledge of higher education sector policy, trends, innovations and strategies, particularly in relation to learning, teaching, and the associated student experience;
Significant demonstrated experience in leading transformations in a university setting;
Commitment to excellence and equity in higher education consistent with the varied disciplines at Edith Cowan University;
Significant leadership experience in developing contemporary, high quality academic programs, student experience and or academic development programs; and

Successful experience in management of personnel, projects and budgets.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, ongoing position is open to Academic Level C and attracts remuneration of $128,880 to $148,089 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
