Whether it's developing Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) to drive coordinated and efficient development, connecting storage such as pumped hydro and grid-scale batteries or supporting new load growth such as hydrogen and electrification of heavy industry - Powerlink will play a critical role in in delivering the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan and helping the state meet its renewable energy targets.

About the role


You will lead the development of Powerlink's strategic approach to stakeholder and community engagement across all projects, with a focus on supporting the delivery of REZs across the state.


You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the community engagement strategy for REZ Management Plans as part of Powerlink's Renewable Development Body function.

You will also work closely with Powerlink's project engagement team to provide strategic guidance in the development of individual Project Engagement Plans.


Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Strategic engagement planning and implementation, including in-field delivery, to support Powerlink's social licence and reputation as part of REZ delivery;
Lead and drive Powerlink's overarching community and stakeholder engagement strategic approach for REZs, including developing the formal Community Engagement Strategy and Implementation Plan for individual REZ Management Plans, as required;
Identify key stakeholders and map risks and issues for each, along with mitigation approaches, to ensure best-practice REZ delivery;
Drive delivery of community engagement on REZs in a coordinated way between Powerlink, the Queensland Government and renewable developers to ensure best-practice community outcomes as part of project delivery;
Participate in and facilitate community engagement activities as required by the project engagement team; and


Coordinating government liaison activities and relevant materials on matters associated with Renewable Development Body activities in consultation with the Government Relations team as appropriate.

About the person


To be successful in this role you will be a highly skilled stakeholder engagement professional with proven experience developing strategic engagement approaches on contentious projects.


You will also have:

Extensive experience in a stakeholder or community engagement role within a complex technical organisation;
Experience developing, coordinating and supporting best-practice contemporary engagement aligned with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) on high risk and / or high-profile projects;
High level skills in overseeing and coordinating delivery of project engagement and operational objectives, managing and mitigating risks, monitoring engagement progress, and effectively achieving engagement goals within agreed budget and timeframes;
Ability to critically analyse issues affecting the organisation and provide advice on reputation and social licence to operate implications and recommending mitigation actions;
Experience monitoring the business, political and regulatory environment for potential issues associated with project delivery; and

Ability to manage public engagement forums or similar activities, as needed.
