The Opportunity


Our client, established in 2019, is a Melbourne-based engineering consultancy with extensive experience and specialist skills in the management of infrastructure assets.


They currently require a number of people to assist them in performing asset inspections in various locations across Melbourne including the Maribyrnong, Merri-bek and Yarra Ranges council areas.

This is for a period from the start of March to end of May 2023.


The main responsibility of the job is to visually inspect and record various types of public assets, ranging from defect assessments through to recording the condition and location of those assets.

This requires that you have exceptional attention to detail and are committed to doing high quality work.


The role involves walking and being on your feet for most of the day and would suit someone who likes working outdoors and is physically fit.

Each project has a strict deadline and your availability to perform the tasks assigned to you is paramount. Your involvement will be critical to meeting our clients' goals.

You must have your own transport and be an Australian resident for tax purposes to qualify for this role.


This is an attractive position and people who have enjoyed success in this role previously have been able to secure ongoing employment in similar positions within local government.


Position Objective

Key Responsibilities and Duties
***- Undertaking various field-based investigations to ensure the accuracy of asset data and that the principles of risk management are applied to infrastructure asset portfolios.

  • Identify, classify, record, validate and analyse asset inventory and condition data for civil infrastructure (includes spatial location, attribute information, asset performance, etc).
  • Completing all assigned asset inspection in accordance with relevant guidelines and technical standards and to the highest professional standards.
  • Maintaining a high standard in the quality and accuracy of all asset data recorded.
  • Demonstrating at all times a strong customer focus which is accurate, responsive, timely and courteous.

Qualifications and Experience

  • To be able to work well under pressure to meet very specific deadlines.
  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge and understanding.
  • Proficiency and skills in the use of mobile devices, computers, and software.
  • Confidence and expertise in oral and written communication.
  • Experience or sound knowledge in the area of municipal construction and maintenance practices or asset inspections would be advantageous.
