About the role

The Head of Reinsurance is a vital member of the Product Office at Youi and is primarily responsible for facilitating the placement and administration of adequate reinsurance arrangements that meet business objectives.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to IT, Finance, Operations, Legal, Actuarial, Brokers, Reinsurers.

This is a senior leadership role and is based in Sydney.

Success in this role will come from someone who is a self-starter that can work independently, someone with excellent listening skills that is solutions driven and someone who is able to absorb the unique culture that we have at Youi.

Working closely with internal stakeholders to develop and agree an effective reinsurance placement strategy
Providing recommendations to the Actuarial Committee and Board on appropriate reinsurance arrangements to meet business objectives
Working with Finance to develop an estimated reinsurance cost budget
Drafting all required Regulatory documentation for approval by the Actuarial Committee, including
Reinsurance Management Strategy (ReMS)
Reinsurance Placement Strategy
Reinsurance Arrangements Statement (ReAS)
Reinsurance Declaration
Working closely with relevant brokers and reinsurance providers on the structuring and placement of the reinsurance arrangements
Working with the reinsurance broker and Youi legal team to draft appropriate contract wordings, check final documents and arrange signature by the CEO
Monitoring compliance with contractual reporting and accounting requirements
Monitoring market movements in conjunction with external counterparties brokers, reinsurers, analysts, media
Working with Youi Product Analysts to ensure reinsurance contracts adequately reflect liability accepted according to all relevant Youi Product Disclosure Statements (PDS)
Attending Committee and Board meetings as required from time to time by the Chief Product Officer
Actively representing Youi in the Reinsurance community in Sydney and globally

About you

Appropriate formal qualifications
Extensive Reinsurance experience with welldeveloped analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in the provision of reinsurance services in the general insurance industry
Strong grasp of Australian Financial Services regulatory frameworks
High level of integrity and professional accountability
Ability to embrace change in a fastpaced environment
Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities
Ability to provide impartial advice and review to support Directors and their responsibilities
Provide effective challenge to the activities and decisions that affect the financial condition, and articulate these to the Directors
