An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Trial Team Leader position to join Austin Cancer Clinical Trials (CCTC) within the ONJ Centre.

We are seeking fulltime (or part-time on negotiation) to lead on of our Medical Oncology Team (Lung/Melanoma streams).


About CCTC:


Cancer Clinical Trials within the ONJ Centre has a reputation of excellence with expertise in managing clinical trials from First-in-human Phase I to Phase 3.

We have over 200 clinical trials in progress including Pharmaceutical Company sponsored, Collaborative Group and Investigator-initiated trials.

All the specialised leading-edge cancer treatment and research conducted through the ONJ Centre is complemented by wellness programs to support patients in body, mind and spirit.


About the role


The successful applicant will become part of CCT leadership team as the Team Leader of an established tumour stream team of Investigators, clinical trial coordinators and research assistant.

He/She will assist the CCT Manager with effective oversight of daily operations, using expertise to provide guidance, direction, supervision and supportive professional development.

The role includes ensuring a high quality service that fosters a positive team culture, meets the needs of investigators, external stakeholders and patients, and maintenance of a productive working environment.


Duties/Responsibilities (not limited to)**:


  • Actively participates in comprehensive orientation, competency assessment, mentoring and professional development of new and less experienced staff, building a cohesive and positive team culture
  • Demonstrates integrity by building trust, mutual respect and professional working relationships between self, colleagues, other disciplines, Austin departments and external stakeholders.
  • Analyses and interprets protocol and budget requirements to inform decisions and recommendations for clinical trial. Manages budget and contract negotiations
  • Assesses, manages and forecasts workload portfolios of staff resources within allocated team.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience (not limited to)**:


  • A registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia _or _Relevant Health Sciences Background.
  • Considerable clinical trial coordination knowledge and experience in, demonstrating the appropriate competencies and skills for the job and clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a clear understanding of the responsibilities of the Team Leader role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reviewing Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and site Research Governance Office (RGO) requirements in the conduct of research trial protocols.
