Your role
The Manger Business Strategy plays a key role in setting the strategic direction of the Child and Family directorate.

Drawing on the technical data and financial analytical skills and generalist skills in your team, you will deliver both strategic and operational advice relating to the child protection and Out-of-Home Care service system performance, budgets and commissioning.


The Manager Business Strategy provides strategic advice and budget management to the Child & Family executive, input to budget and cabinet submissions, business cases and Outcomes Budgeting planning and reporting.


What you'll do

As Manager Business Strategy you will:

  • Lead and manage a small team of around 4 staff
  • Provide strategic advice regarding the child protection service system, including analysis of performance, risks, opportunities and challenges
  • Lead the team in a range of financial and data analyses to inform and develop strategy, reform, policy and budget decisions
  • Oversight management of the Child & Family program budgets
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across DCJ and the NSW Government to draw on expertise and inform advice.
The Manager Business Strategy sits within the Intensive Supports branch of the Child & Family Directorate.

The Intensive Supports branch delivers strategic budget management, analysis and support for Child & Family program budgets and system level policy and program management of intensive Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) services.


The branch is accountable for the following:

  • Provide data ,financial analysis and financial management for programs across the Child and Family directorate
  • Develop pricing and commissioning strategy for future reform pathways
  • Delivery of data dashboards for OutofHome Care (OOHC) service models and placement arrangements
  • Develop strategic advice, analysis and planning for service system improvement
  • Development and implementation of policies and guidelines specific to Intensive OOHC services
  • Strategic commissioning activities to improve service system performance and meet demand
