Deputy Chief Health Information Manager to join our leadership team at Knox Private Hospital.


You will bring extensive clinical coding experience, competent decision making skills as well as demonstrated people management experience to the role.


Knox Private Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in Victoria, caring for over 1.2 million people across Melbourne's east and outer east.


We have a 24/7 Emergency Department, covering a full range of medical and surgical specialty areas, including highly complex surgeries.

Backed by the latest technology and expertise, we offer a 15 theatres, including a hybrid theatre, diagnostic cardiology, two cardiac cath labs and capabilities for cardiothoracic surgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, urology and more.

All supported by a soon to be expanded coronary care unit and intensive care unit.

Exciting new expansion for Knox Private Hospital


Work is well underway on a major expansion of Knox Private Hospital that will help us continue to meet the growing demand for quality health care across Melbourne's east.


The new multi-million-dollar expansion will help Knox Private deliver an expanded and enhanced service offering for our patients, and will further cement our reputation as a world-class healthcare facility.


2023/2024 Expansion Project includes:


Three story North Tower with two wards (60 beds), upgrade and increase in ICU and CCU beds, upgrade to Knox Heart Centre (our non-invasive diagnostic cardiology), 16 chair renal dialysis unit and Specialist Consulting Suites.


As a Deputy Chief Health Information Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Chief HIM in the management of the Medical Records Department
  • Provide continuous mentoring and education to the coding staff
  • Participate in case mix analysis, education & quality activities
  • Clinical documentation improvement initiatives
  • Assist with the timely extraction and submission of mandatory data reporting
  • Assist with the development and management of forms rationalisation and digitised medical records management
  • Participate in audits as necessary
  • Timely and accurate clinical coding

Essential Criteria:


  • Bachelor of Health Information Management and/or Master of Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Senior clinical coder experience
  • Strong leadership capability to lead and drive success within a team to maximise performance
  • Proven experience in clinical coding with knowledge of ICD10AM, ACHI & ACS
  • Sound understanding of Codefinder & Turbocoder
  • Demonstrated experience in the extraction and submission of data to external parties
  • Highly developed problem solving skills that lead to positive outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships

Desirable Criteria:


  • Knowledge of private sector funding models
  • Knowledge of WebPAS patient information system
