Optus Business (SMB) are seeking a proactive and dynamic Sales professional to take the next step in their sales career and join the Brisbane, Queensland Sales team as a Business Development Executive.

The primary purpose of the Business Development Executive (BDE) role is to acquire new business and grow company revenue and market share predominantly in the market segment of 20-49 employee range sized businesses.


Reporting to the State Sales Manager, the BDE will need to be highly motivated, energetic with a can-do attitude to exceed business targets and execute strategies to grow market share in the 20-49 employee segment.

This role will also involve working closely with team members including the Solutions Architect to drive whole-of-business sales and extend market reach.


In addition to winning new customers to Optus, the BDE will also action new cross sell opportunities allocated to them from within the customer base from time to time.


Prior experience in sales (B2B desirable), face-to-face relationship selling and prospecting new customer opportunities is key to success in the role.

This will be evident through the achievement of business targets such as new gross ads in mobiles, mobile broadband, fixed voice/data.


The BDE must have the ability to effectively differentiate Optus from our competitors and will be required to engage with decision makers across a range of prospect organisations in the target market segment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver upon agreed sales targets in both acquisition of new Business customers with particular emphasis on medium space in the employees sized businesses
  • The identification of potential target customers to grow market share.
  • Development, and implementation of tactical segmentation to support the acquisition of new customers.
  • Execute upon customer experience strategies to minimize churn and improve Optus Brand in Business market
  • Manage the development of a balanced and sustainable pipeline to deliver long term sales goals.

About You:


  • Prior experience in a Sales role (Business to Business desirable)
  • Telesales, Outbound Contact Centre, Retail Sales, Sales Consultant/Advisor
  • Experience with cold calling & new lead generation
  • Driven and results focused. Proven history of working in a proactive and persistent manner
  • Proven sales track record in achieving targets through customer acquisition strategies and building customer loyalty through fostering strong relationships
  • Experience identifying new business sales opportunities. Commercially astute with sound understanding of business drivers
  • Experience with Salesforce desirable, however not essential
