About the Role


The Property and Assets team sponsors and contributes to a large and diverse portfolio of projects valued at over $20m each year, including buildings open space, roads, stormwater, lighting and maritime, as well as priority real estate transaction and development projects.

The team also supports and contributes to a number of other projects and services across the organisation.

The projects align with Council's strategic directions and ensure outcomes that create an inclusive and great place to live, are environmentally, economically and financially sustainable.

The projects are not only important to our community but a number have state significance.


The Property and Assets Portfolio Officer will work closely with the Divisional Portfolio Manager, the project delivery team, and other key stakeholders to coordinate and monitor the planning, delivery and reporting of the annual programmed capital renewal and upgrade programs for all asset classes, in line with the organisation's 10-year asset renewal and compliance programs to achieve condition targets and improve safety, accessibility and functionality of assets.


Duties:


  • Provide portfolio analysis, administration and support to the delivery of the portfolio of annualised portfolio including administration support to the South Melbourne Market project control group.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress to track and address issues in line with Councils Project Management Framework.
  • Provide administrative support to Project Control Group Meetings.
  • Assist in the development of annual renewal and upgrade programs
  • Assist with compilation of, and quality assurance checks of key project management related documents.
  • Work collaboratively with the project managers, stakeholders (including the community) and other portfolio team members to ensure the project lifecycle is supported, and that established processes for financial, risk, issues and change management in line with the project lifecycle methodology appropriately implemented and maintained.

Skills and Experience

  • 1 or more years delivering projects, two or more years assisting the delivery of projects, or 6 months or more working as a portfolio analyst, preferably within the property, construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrate understanding of all phases of the project management life cycle, including schedule, budget and risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience in gaining cooperation and working effectively with a range of stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
  • Strong computer skills, with ability to learn new project management software.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
