The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be part of the Coventry University and Deakin University Consortium in Motor Skill for Holistic Development.

The theme is transdisciplinary and has wide international collaborations focused on youth movement behaviour and links to holistic development.

The researchers use innovative techniques and cutting-edge approaches to solve the population issues around inadequate motor skill development and poor levels of physical activity.

The Research Fellow will be actively involved in the research projects across the research interests of the consortium.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Planning and managing own research activity, and developing research objectives and proposals for own or joint research
  • Contributing to impact activities in larger projects, under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Communicating complex research information using a range of methods and media, including to the public where appropriate, and publishing research results and outcomes with a view to developing a national/international profile.
  • Build internal and external contacts, participate in internal networks for the exchange of information and form relationships for future collaboration. Join external networks to share information and identify potential sources of funds.
  • Continually updating knowledge and understanding in the discipline and developing new research techniques and approaches to enable contribution within established research programmes, while contributing to teaching, learning and development programmes as appropriate, using research findings to inform curriculum development.
  • Supporting assessment of student knowledge and supervision of projects; assisting in the development of student research skills.

Key selection criteria for this role:

  • Ability to write up research for publication in high profile peer reviewed journals and present at national/international peer reviewed conferences and events.
  • Ability to lead and/or take responsibility for a small research project or identified parts of a large project.
  • Ability to develop research objectives, projects and funding proposals for own and joint research, with the assistance of a mentor if required.
  • Advanced knowledge of research methods, techniques and data analysis used in this research area
  • Demonstrate adherence to regulations e.g., ethics, legal requirements
  • Ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.
  • Formal presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, using a range of media.
