Description

Partners in Performance is a global management consulting firm with a focus on human performance and working alongside client partners to make change happen.

We've got offices in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, North and South America, the UK and Europe but prefer to spend as little time in them as possible.

Instead, we work alongside our clients to unleash their potential and deliver lasting impact that you hardly ever achieve by sitting in a boardroom.

Partners in Performance is looking for a Power BI specialist to join our team and meet the growing demand for Power BI solutions - both for our clients and for our internal use.

This role requires a strong "hands-on" approach, as well as coaching and training skills, as you will be expected to help and guide our consulting and internal teams with your expertise.

You will be the firm's Power BI "go-to" person.

Clients (priority, 60%)

  • Work with our consulting teams to create Power BI dashboards for our clients.
  • Coach and support our junior consultants who are developing dashboards for our clients.

Internal (when not performing client work, 40%)

  • Coach and troubleshoot with our internal Power BI analysts on how to enhance their dashboards.
  • Design and deliver training programs.

As a Power BI specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building and delivering internal and client dashboards from end to end, which involves:
  • Analyzing, understanding and agreeing on the business requirements
  • Agreeing on dashboard designs and metrics with stakeholders (often the PiP consultants will perform this role)
  • Designing and mapping data models
  • Determining the best way to access data in a shortterm tactical and longerterm sustainable way, noting that clients may not always provide direct access to their core systems
  • Building the dashboards, checking in with stakeholders and managing delivery expectations
  • Working with the clients to publish and license the dashboards to their Microsoft environment
  • Coaching the consultant teams to perform the above tasks when they are building the dashboards. This assistance may span all aspects from designing data models to specific DAX coding questions.
  • Coaching internal teams on how to improve and expand their dashboards to meet senior PiP stakeholder needs, such as finance dashboards. Manage these internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver training materials to train consultants and internal teams the fundamentals of Power BI.
  • Prepare and deliver a series of "How Tos" and case studies to expand the knowledge of internal analysts and consultants.
  • Build internal Power BI dashboards as required. For example to visualise data being collected via internal Power Apps.
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships to support the development of internal Power BI reports built by our internal analysts.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Develop standard "best practice" methodologies on how to build and deliver Power BI dashboards.
  • Contribute to client proposals as required.

Essential competencies:

  • Effective communication and collaborative skills
  • Ability to drive projects endtoend from inception through to build
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Desire to assist and coach others
  • Strong business and stakeholder engagement
  • Interest and desire to discover and keep uptodate on Power BI functionality and plugins
  • Approachable with a strong 'here to help' attitude
  • Selfstarter with ability to create your own role within the firm
  • Ability to juggle the responsibility of being both an advisor and doer
  • Strong desire to provide thought leadership within the firm

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in Microsoft Power BI Desktop, preferably in a consulting role where you have built multiple interactive dashboards across different industries and functions.
  • Aptitude for data collection and configuration using a variety of BI software programs, tools, and source systems.
  • Excellent problemsolving and communication skills and a sound understanding of both business and operational principles.
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to coach and upskill others.
  • Strong attention to detail to create sophisticated, accurate and effective data visualisations.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fastpaced, everchanging professional environment.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business Intelligence or a computer science, data science related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data design, data modelling, data management, and data visualization
  • Strong DAX skills.
  • Deep understanding of data and dashboard security, dashboard sharing and Power BI licensing.
  • Experience in alternative visual analytics tools such as Tableau preferred.
  • Experience in Power Automate and Power Apps preferred.
Willingness to travel as needed - on average 6-8 days per month.
