Envest is an insurance investment and distribution business with a diverse portfolio of brands and a national footprint. Envest has a network of insurance brokers operating under the Aviso and Resilium brands, three direct to consumer insurance brands and 11 intermediated agencies. The combined portfolio has over 550 employees, and writes more than AU$1.2 billion in premiums.


Envest has recently become part of large UK-based broker The Ardonagh Group and while the Australian team positions for further expansion we are seeking a Corporate Counsel / Assistant Company Secretary.


Reporting into a talented Chief Legal and Risk Officer we are seeking a Corporate Counsel who is ready to become a trusted adviser to the business.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Providing advice to the Envest team, investee businesses and staff regarding all legal matters & risks associated with the business, including contracts and commercial negotiations, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters, and litigation;
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial and corporate contracts including supplier agreements, software agreements, shareholder agreements, outsourcing and various insurance related agreements.
  • Advising and supporting the board and its committees on company secretarial and governance matters; and
  • Attending Board and Committee meetings, minutetaking and providing support and guidance on procedural and governance matters at meetings.


You will have demonstrated experience showing depth of your knowledge through examples of work listed in our key responsibilities, ideally from both private practice and in-house.

You will have experience in providing solutions-focused guidance and be confident in developing strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
