About the role

Sydney Water is Australia's largest water utility, providing safe drinking water and wastewater services to over 5 million customers across Greater Sydney.

As our assets age, our population grows and our climate changes, we face an increasing number of challenges that require innovation and adaptation.

This role sits within a team that must drive forward innovative solutions through technological advancement and sound scientific endeavours to meet the challenges we face.

The role will suit a creative thinker, able to assess the ability of emerging technologies to increase productivity, reduce costs and open up new markets for our business.

What will you be doing?

Coordinate technology pilot trials that support delivery of the Innovation Research and Deployment Plan and are aligned with other key corporate strategies and plans.
Coordinate internal and external innovation activities to 'connect' innovation and identify ways to better promote and foster innovation within the organisation.
Manage Sydney Water's innovation platform to enhance innovation culture uplift and provide opportunities for open innovation outside our business.
Provide expert advice to the business on technology and innovation matters, including input into the scoping and designing of trials as required.

Who are we looking for?

You hold a degree in Engineering or Science or have extensive (10 years +) experience in a relevant scientific and or technical field (innovation or technology commercialisation)
Demonstrated ability in driving innovation within organisations to improve business performance and build an innovation culture.
High level of problemsolving skills with the ability to rationalise identify, evaluate risks, and develop alternate options.
Strong relationship and stakeholder engagement experience to develop high performing crossfunctional teams and achieve a collaborative partnership culture that encourages continuous improvement and change.
