Description

The Principal Policy Officer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop high quality policy and legislation to improve the regulation of safety and health in Queensland's mining, petroleum and gas and explosives industries.

Key Accountabilities

Provide professional, accurate and timely policy advice to Resources Safety & Health Queensland divisions and other stakeholders
Assess and advise on the appropriate approach and strategy on a wide range of complex policy and legislative amendments
Develop innovative solutions to complex problems
Prepare complex documents including discussion papers, reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, policy documents and correspondence
Work collaboratively and negotiate effectively with departmental colleagues, the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel and other government, industry and nongovernment organisations to achieve policy objectives and deliver government commitments
