Description

The Principal Policy Officer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop high quality policy and legislation to improve the regulation of safety and health in Queensland's mining, petroleum and gas and explosives industries.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide professional, accurate and timely policy advice to Resources Safety & Health Queensland divisions and other stakeholders
  • Assess and advise on the appropriate approach and strategy on a wide range of complex policy and legislative amendments
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Prepare complex documents including discussion papers, reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, policy documents and correspondence
  • Work collaboratively and negotiate effectively with departmental colleagues, the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel and other government, industry and nongovernment organisations to achieve policy objectives and deliver government commitments
