The Early Years Community Programs team is looking for an energetic project professional with an interest in the Early Years sector for a12 months Parental leave Cover.


The role


Reporting to the Early Years Coordinator Community Programs, we are seeking a Best Start Project Facilitator who can bring their skills and experience.


Best Start is an exciting state government initiative funded to work with the Kindergarten, Maternal and Child Health and Playgroups sectors, to drive projects to increase the participation and engagement of target groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD, and Refugee and Asylum seeker families.


Key projects will include:

  • Coordination of Early Years outreach activities
  • Project planning and coordination for the upcoming 2024 Kindergarten Readiness Month
  • Management of key communication and community engagement projects associated with the roll out of new kindergarten software
  • Planning and implementation of continuous improvement projects with the Kindergarten, Maternal and Child Health, and Smalltalk Supported Playgroups teams.

To be considered you will have:

  • A degree level qualification in early childhood, education, health, welfare, social work, community development or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in community work with skills in consultation, facilitation and engagement of diverse groups within the local community.
  • Project management and policy development experience within a community service organisation and demonstrated ability to manage a complex project.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including negotiation, networking, conflict resolution and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial capability.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the Local, State and Commonwealth Government service system.
  • Current Police Record and Working with Children check
