As we continue through an exciting period of growth,
Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a passionate and highly experienced
Commercial Manager to join our Perth based team.***Reporting to the
Senior Project Manager the
Commercial Manager will fulfill a critical role supporting the contract and procurement delivery, and overall management and performance on a mega world-class international project with a tier one client.

Driving the operational and strategic outcomes across the project, you will ensure project commercial matters are managed in collaboration with other functional groups, are in line with Lycopodium's Corporate Governance requirements and ensure the projects objectives are achieved.


The tasks you'll perform

  • Maintain the consistent quality of contracts and procurement administration and management in alignment with the requirements of the Company's and projects costs, schedule, quality, governance and risk procedures.
  • Develop contract management plans, schedules and budgets for each contract, and ensure that the contracts and procurement functions are delivered in accordance with these controls.
  • Ensure that all contract and procurement management activities are conducted within ethical and Company standards, and in compliance with jurisdictional statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate contract terms and conditions and commercial structures to suit each specific scope of work.
  • Develop strategies and provide recommendations on the appropriate actions to mitigate and/or manage disputes, variations and claims.
  • Support the leadership team in the optimal delivery of the project by providing strategic advice and recommendations to improve value and performance for the business.
  • Resolve commercial issues to ensure maximisation of commercial performance on the project, aligned with the commercial strategy and processes of the project.
  • Facilitate relationships with a range of key stakeholders and maintain effective client management by positively responding to internal and external stakeholder needs.
  • Strategically improve procedures by reviewing and developing operational process flows, driving operational rigor into the project execution.
  • Control the effective implementation of the commercial framework and processes, monitoring and reporting on project delivery against the requirements of the contract.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Undergraduate qualification in commerce, business or engineering. Postgraduate qualification in contract law is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in contract and procurement management role(s) on substantial resources projects.
  • Extensive international work experience and/or experience working on complex mega projects in remote sites/locations.
  • Broad experience in the formation, negotiation, award and administration of complex contracts and strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Exceptional knowledge of contract law and contract document requirements, with the ability to ensure all contracts meet legal, commercial and corporate standards/agreed benchmarks.
  • Capacity to understand and effectively communicate contractual principles and clauses to Project Managers and business leaders, providing clear and informed commercial positions and recommendations to manage opportunity and risk.
  • A champion of change management and continuous improvement, dedicated to best practice and driving improvement initiatives throughout the business.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and facilitation skills, with the ability to prepare a wide variety of written materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong business acumen with a practical focus and the ability to deliver results.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and work at pace in a complex and challenging EPCM sector.
