What the role will offer you
In this role you will lead the development and effective implementation of the cultural heritage and Aboriginal engagement strategies for the Alkimos water precinct projects.
You will provide expert guidance to the project team and its contractors throughout the planning and construction phase to minimise risks to heritage, maintain relationships and ensure the efficient delivery of the project.
What you'll do:
- Assess heritage training and cultural awareness needs for Alkimos water precinct project teams and contractors, to ensure appropriate awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultural and heritage matters and associated procedures as part of works
- Develop, manage, and govern the frameworks and approaches for the management of Aboriginal heritage matters as part of the Alkimos water precinct projects
- Lead the development, delivery and review of Cultural Heritage Management Plans, and other heritage consents for Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant project
- Develop, implement and maintain effective communication and community engagement strategies to support delivery of the Alkimos water precinct Aboriginal Engagement Strategy program
- Lead the engagement activities with Aboriginal communities associated with Aboriginal Heritage or Native Title Management
- Engage with Aboriginal Communities, Traditional Owner Groups, and Aboriginal businesses as key stakeholders to inform our strategic development and management
Your skills and experience:
There are a few things that we'll look for in your CV:
- This position relates to Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline such as Social Sciences, Environment or Archaeology
- Considerable experience in cultural heritage management, Aboriginal community engagement, stakeholder management, including developing communication and community engagement material and strategies
- Developed conceptual and analytical skills and able to exercise advanced influencing and negotiation skills
- Able to multitask, prioritise and meet challenging time pressures
- Current driver's licence as you will be regularly driving to the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant
