About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity presents itself for an entry level International Trade Officers to join our International Trade and Investment Centre (ITIC).


The ITIC team are an experienced and passionate group of professionals who assist WA businesses to explore and develop their export horizons by helping them to develop their export market plans, to identify export market destinations, suitable market entry channels and in market partners, leveraging CCIWA's research data and industry sources as well as its expansive stakeholder networks.


As an ambitious person with a natural flair for communication and providing exceptional service, you will use your superior research and report project writing skills to perform the delivery of trade consulting work and maintain a portfolio of International Trade consulting revenue clients.


Through on the job training and support, you will gain invaluable exposure to the world of International Trade consulting, obtaining practical experience along the way that will set the foundation for a challenging career in International Trade.

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • delivery of research, data analysis and various investigative approaches to provide export services to ITIC clients.
  • Client service delivery in areas of international market identification and selection, market research, reports, B2B matching and providing guidance in respect of Free Trade Agreements (FTA's), Import protocols and Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) codes applicable to the export market
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders (Austrade, Bilateral Councils, WA Govt) in the delivery of International Trade consulting work.
  • Managing a portfolio of signed trade consulting proposals to deliver the work assigned within the Scope of Work in accordance with agreed consulting hours and timeframes.
  • Referring indirect leads to Manager ITIC to follow up to assess as opportunities to potentially convert to signed trade consulting proposals.
  • Assist and support the ITIC Manager with the delivery of a range of business development initiatives such as industry events and workshops.

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  • Bachelor/tertiary degree in International Business, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical and report writing skills is critical to this role.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with a range of ITIC clients and ITIC stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work and learn both collaboratively and independently.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to generate new business and manage clients across a range of industry sectors.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and manage a portfolio of clients.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft suite of products, specifically Excel, Word and Office 36
  • A current and valid driver's licence.
  • Experience in a similar role (desired).
